Water Polo starts 2017 season at Triton Invitational

The 2017 Concordia Men's Water Polo Team begins its 2017 season at the Triton Invitational on Saturday. In its first year as official members of the Western Water Polo Association, the Eagles join a conference that comprises of Air Force, Cal Baptist, Fresno Pacific, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara, UC Davis and UC San Diego. The team will begin its third season under head coach Dreason Barry.

The Eagles are slated to take on UC Santa Barbara at 10:40 a.m. in La Jolla, Calif. Following the game against the Gauchos, the Eagles will play one more game on Saturday and two on Sunday. Opponent and time will be posted on cuieagles.com following the conclusion of the first game.

In the WWPA Coaches Poll, the Eagles were selected to finish eighth in conference play. UC Davis was picked to win the top spot and UC San Diego claimed second. Concordia concluded 2016 with a 5-16 record.

The Eagles will return from San Diego to compete in their first home match on Friday, September 8th at 12:30 p.m. in Irvine against the Tritons at William Woollett Jr. Aquatic Center. They will then participate in the Inland Empire Classic from September 9th-10th. Their schedule then takes them for seven straight games on the road before returning home to face Air Force Academy, USC and Cal Baptist for three straight home games. They conclude the regular season with a match against Loyola Marymount University on Nov. 4th at 12 p.m. in Los Angeles, Calif.
