Box Score Concordia Men's Soccer coasted past the University of Hawai'i at Hilo with a trio of goals and shutout defense. The 3-0 victory over the Vulcans was a collaborative effort, with 19 Eagles seeing time on the pitch, and each goal coming from the foot of someone different.
The Eagles now have a 2-0 PacWest Conference and 3-2-1 overall record.
The game remained scoreless throughout the first half, until with under five minutes to play Michael Oakson recorded his first career goal on the pass from Ethan Kirby.
After the half, the Eagles' offensive engine continued to roll. Senior Manny Nuñez checked into the match and within six minutes, posted his first goal of the season for the 2-0 lead.
Concordia continued to apply the pressure offensively and quiet the Vulcans' attack with the help of John Letona and Andrew Almeida in the back line. With under 14 to play, Julian Font's run connected with a pass from Ether Bustos. Font dribbled through the box and buried a shot to the top right for his first goal of 2017.
The Eagles outshot the Vulcans 12-10 and Saul Al Ocampo recored six saves.
Thursday, the PacWest play returns to Irvine, Calif. and Eagles Field for a matchup against Azusa Pacific. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
