Coming into Friday night's game, the Concordia men's water polo team was looking to snap a two-game losing streak.  Playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation, nothing has been easy for Concordia this season, and against the University of California San Diego, CUI had another top opponent in its way.

Just 26 seconds into the game, the Eagles took a quick lead.  Patrick Zsiros found the back of the net and Cristiano Tomassetti collected the first assist to give the Green and Gold a 1-0 advantage. 

The No. 10 Tritons then scored the next three goals to surge ahead.  With 2:17 to play in the first period, Zsiros scored his second goal of the day, with the assist coming from goalkeeper Alfredo De La Mora.  UC San Diego then scored two goals before the end of the first quarter to extend the lead to three.

In the second quarter, the action slowed and both teams were held in check.  After Concordia's Marius Jakimcikas scored off of a pass from Tomassetti, UC San Diego responded with a goal before halftime to bring the score to 6-3 in favor of the Tritons at the break.

Like the Eagles have done against tough opponents throughout the year, they were able to keep the game close but eventually UC San Diego pulled away.  In the second half, Concordia was able to notch only one goal by Messan Moore and the Tritons claimed the victory by a score of 15-4.

Eagle Eye: Zsiros collected two goals and Tomassetti led the way with two assists. 

What's Next: The Eagles return to action on Saturday in an Alumni Game at Northwood High School in Irvine at 1:00 PM.
