IRVINE, CA. - Concordia was looking to snap Biola's win streak of nine, but fell short in four sets.
In the first set, Concordia and Biola would go back and forth, until Bekah Roth from Biola went on a serving run to take the lead 14-18. Biola would continue to push to the end, winning 18-25.
The second set came close as the Eagles battled it out between each other. A couple errors from Concordia would give Biola the lead 13-16 and a timeout would be called. Concordia was not able to stop Biola in the second set, falling short with a score 18-25.
The third set was a different story as Concordia would go down 4-8, but
Brianna Latigue would go on a run serving, tieing the game 8 all. As the Eagles would continue to go back and forth, a kill from
Jaclyn Brown would continue to give them a lead. A 23-19 lead came from
Jaclyn Brown again, serving a couple points. Two errors from Biola gave Concordia a 25-19 win; taking Biola to a fourth set.
Biola came out strong going on a four and eight point run to take a commanding lead from Concordia. A kill by
Julia DenBoer would snap the running streak by her cousin, Christina DenBoer. Concordia could not come back from the deficit, losing 10-25 in the fourth set.
Jaclyn Brown led the team with 18 kills, with
Cambria Fernandez following with nine kills.
Ailsa Watson recorded another three aces and 19 assists, while
Brianna Latigue had 19 assists as well.Â
