Clovis, Calif. – Concordia University Irvine and Fresno Pacific battled in an overtime thriller Saturday before the Sunbirds escaped with a hard-fought 11-10 victory. The Eagles finished in eighth place at the WWPA Championship despite an amazing effort down the stretch that saw them erase a 4-2 halftime deficit.

Concordia's
Austin Barton scored the game-tying goal with 32 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Â Fresno Pacific answered with two tallies to take an 11-9 lead but the Eagles kept battling.Â
Marius Jakimcikas cut the deficit in half when he scored with under a minute left in the sixth quarter but Concordia was unable to net the equalizer.

The epic match featured Jakimcikas scoring four times to lead the Eagles.Â
Messan Moore tallied two goals and
Christian Bowley and
Nick Walker each contributed a pair of assists to aid the CUI attack.

Senior goalie
Alfredo De La Mora closed out his career with another impressive outing between the pipes. He collected seven steals and racked up 10 saves – including a key stop on a penalty shot. De La Mora was also named to the WWPA All-Tournament Second Team for his efforts.
