BELMONT, CA. - Concordia Eagles would head up north to play two games in the next two days as the season is coming to a close before finishing the season on their home court.
In the first set, a kill from
Cambria Fernandez and a block by
Kylie Breitenwischer and
Hannah Tostado would give the Eagles a 5-3 jump-start. The Eagles slowly pushed away, taking advantage of a couple ball-handling errors from the Argonauts with a lead 11-6. The Argonauts would go on a five-point run to tie the game at 13 all. The score would continue to go back and forth until Rowan Jack from the Argonauts would get a couple kills to take the lead over the Eagles by a close score, 17-19. The Eagles could not come back from behind, as the final score was 21-25.
The Argonauts came out strong in the second set, as they would go on a six-point run to force the Eagles to take a timeout at 7-16. A kill from
Cambria Fernandez would and two aces from
Brianna Latigue would slowly bring the Eagles closer to the Argonauts with a score 17-22. Arynn Howell from Notre Dame de Namur would finish the game with a final score, 17-25.
A few service errors in the third set would give the Eagles a few breaks as the Argonauts would continue to go on runs though out the set. Two kills from
Kylie Breitenwischer would bring the Eagles within one point, forcing the Argonauts to take a timeout. As the Argonauts would continue to go on runs, the Eagles did not let up, with
Jaclyn Brown coming out with two kills and a kill from
Brianna Latigue to force the Argonauts to take their final timeout at 19-20.
Brianna Latigue would come out of the timeout with a strong ace and a kill from
Jaclyn Brown to take the lead 21-20. The rallies would continue by each point, as a kill from
Emily LaCroix-Dalluhn would tie the set again 23-23. The Argonauts prevailed and took the last two points to finish the match, 23-25.
Ailsa Watson and
Brianna Latigue both recorded 16 and 13 assists, while
Clarice Buchanan led the team once again with another 20-dig game for the seventh time this season.
Jaclyn Brown finished with 11 kills and
Cambria Fernandez following closely behind with nine kills.
Riley Gill finished the night with a new career high of 19 digs.
Concordia will continue their road trip and play against Dominican on November 3
rd at 3PM.ann
