Women's Tennis Drop Matches to No. 13 APU and No. 18 PLNU

On Wednesday, CUI played against Azusa Pacific University which is currently No. 13 in the nation. The Eagles battled hard but fell with an overall score of 1-8. For the doubles competition, at the No.1 spot,
Anastasiia Kuprina and
Samantha Schuster fought for 2 hours and felt short with the score of 7-8 (11-13) on a tiebreaker. At No. 2 spot
Ghazal Pakbaten and
Johanna Keeline fell with the score of 8-5.
In singles,
Ghazal Pakbaten had a big win with the score of 3-6, 6-1,10-6 at the No. 2 spot. A freshman took down nationally ranked Petra Ivankovic. At No. 4 position,
Samantha Schuster was close to grabbing another win for the Eagles but fell short to Kara Hinton with the score of 1-6, 6-2, 10-3.
On Thursday, Women's Tennis competed against another nationally ranked team, Point Loma Nazarene University which is currently No. 18 in the nation.
Doubles competition went well for the Eagles as they won 2 out of 3 matches. At No. 1 spot,
Anastasiia Kuprina and
Samantha Schuster took down their opponents with an overall score of 8-6. At No. 2 spot,
Ghazal Pakbaten and
Johanna Keeline followed suit and collected another win for the Eagles with the same score.
Women's Tennis went into singles competition with the 2-1 lead but was able to collect only one more win for the Eagles.
Ghazal Pakbaten defeated another nationally ranked player, Carolina Cuevas with the score of 6-2, 2-6, 3-1, retired.
Anastasiia Kuprina was close to adding another point for Concordia but fell short with the score of 7-5, 5-7, 4-10.
Anastasiia Kuprina earned PacWest Player of the Week honor for the week of March 19-26th as she collected four wins for the Eagles.
Eagles Tennis heads to Biola University on Thursday at 2 PM.
