Lions Overpower Eagles

IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia Women's Water Polo Team dropped Friday's matchup with Loyola Marymount 12-3 at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. The Eagles were held of the board in the opening period and scored a goal in each of the three remaining quarters.

The Lions outscored CUI 10-1 in the first half. In the first quarter, LMU found the back of the net four times and the Eagles were unable to respond. In the second period, Kelley Geurts assisted Corbin Bricks in the first Concordia goal of the game. The duo teamed up to score the goal two minutes into the period.

The Eagles took advantage of an exclusion on LMU when Elena Isogawa scored on a power play with 2:41 remaining in the third period. At the close of the quarter, CUI trailed 12-2.

Katharine Leese scored the lone Eagle goal in the final frame, chipping in the quarter's only goal with the 4:25 mark. The Eagles were able to hold LMU off the board for the duration of the contest.

The loss drops CUI to a record of 5-14 on the season. They are next in action on Wednesday, April 18 when they host California Baptist at 1:30 p.m.
