Women's Water Polo Celebrates Senior Day

IRVINE, Calif. – Prior to Wednesday's matchup with California Baptist, the Concordia Women's Water Polo Team celebrated seniors
Madelynn Knust,
Kelley Geurts and
Jastine Vazquez. Following the festivities, the Eagles fell to the Lancers by a score of 10-4.
The two teams played an even opening period, each scoring once in the first eight minutes. CBU drew first blood with a goal with 2:22 on the clock in the quarter.
Elena Isogawa answered for the Eagles as the clock ticked down to 24 seconds and the two headed to the second frame tied 1-1.
The Lancers gained a slight advantage, outscoring CUI 3-2 in the second quarter. Isogawa put up the first point of the period, giving Concordia a 2-1 lead just 30 seconds in. CBU answered back a minute later with a game-tying goal. Cal Baptist took the lead 60 seconds later before
Ramsie Haskell found the back of the net for the Eagles, knotting the game up at three apiece. CBU scored once more before the end of the period to take a 4-3 lead into halftime.
Two-straight goals gave the Lancers a 6-3 lead to open the third period.
Hanna Jordan scored for CUI at the 4:58 mark, but Cal Baptist answered with two more and led 8-4 after three quarters.
CUI failed to score in the final frame, and CBU extended their lead with two final goals to earn the 10-4 win.
Isogawa led CUI with two goals. Haskell added a goal and two steals while
Dailynn Santoro and
Lindsey Heaney each also had two steals. Knust made eight saves in goal for the Eagles and had two steals.
The Eagles have one final regular season game left on the schedule. They will travel to Azusa Pacific to face the Cougars on Saturday at 11 a.m.
