NORTHRIDGE, CA - Concordia, Irvine Beach Volleyball team took a trip to CSUN for a second time this season to take on CSUN and Vanguard as they try to take home two wins with the season almost to a close.
 
The Eagles first played CSUN, looking to come back and defeat them after losing earlier in the season, but could not hang on and lost 0-5. In the No. 1 slot, Tristan Self and Vanessa Bernzen lost in two straight sets to Katie Sato and Aeryn Owens with scores 17-21 and 15-21. In the second slot, Avery Keathley and Riley Gill had a tough match against Kristey Markle and Nickeisha Williams; taking them to three sets. Keathley and Gill lost the first set 15-21, but came back in the second set to win 22-20. The third set was a battle between each opponent, as the Eagles would lose that set with a close score of 13-15. Marcela Frazzoni and Jaclyn Brown are next up as they took on Lauren McMurray and Autumn Russell. Frazzoni and Brown had no problem winning the first set 21-14, but could not hang on the last two sets losing 9-21 and another close third set battle 13-15. Jessica Diederich and Asia O'Neil played against Nicolette Pinkney and Lauren Conati losing in two sets, 15-21 and 7-21. In the last slot, Julia Denboer and Kekela Hendrickson lost in two sets to Erin Indermill and Daniella Molinari with scores 16-21 and 6-21.
 
The last match on the day was against Vanguard, going 5-0. Tristan Self and Vanessa Bernzen defeated Kayla Tinker and Gabby Morrison in three sets with scores 21-16, 14-21, and 15-12. In the No. 2 slot, Avery Keathley and Riley Gill swept Kelli Dowell and Hannah Holder in two straight sets, 21-17 and 21-13. Marcela Frazzoni and Jaclyn Brown took their opponents, Dani Erdelatz and Charity Dennis to three sets and ultimately coming up on top with scores 21-19, 17-1, and 15-8. In the No. 4 slot, Jessica Diederich and Asia O'Neil had no problem defeating Eliana Johnson and Karly Cantu in two sets, 21-18 and 21-11. In the last slot, Julia Denboer and Kekela Hendrickson were able to keep the dominating performance by the Eagles, winning in another three set battle after losing the first set, 19-21, 21-9, and 15-13.
 
The last match of the season will be played at Huntington Beach, CA on April 6, 2018 against Orange Coast College at 10AM.
