Concordia University Irvine took their first road trip of the 2018 season to Holy Names University on Friday night. 

The Eagles were able to come back after a 0-2 start, winning the last three sets to win their first game on the road. 

The first set was a battle back and forth between each team, but Holy Names was able to hold their lead with a score 19-25. 

In the second set, the Eagles were able to take a late lead 24-22 with a kill from Jordan Mineer. The Hawks were able to come back to tie at 25 all, finishing the set at 27-25. The next three were another story, in favor of Concordia. 

In the third set, Julia DenBoer served two aces in a row that gave the Eagles the lead 10-6. After that run, they were able to sustain the lead and take the third set with a score 25-21. 

The fourth set was another story for the Eagles. They took the lead from the beginning and never looked back, winning with a dominant score 25-15 with a hitting percentage of .300. This would take the match to a fifth and final set to see who would ultimately take the victory. 

The final set was dominated by Concordia again. Riley Gill went on a service run early in the set, giving them an 8-2 lead. The Eagles were able to hold the lead, winning 15-9, giving them their first win on the road. 

Patience O'Neal had a solid night leading the team with 19 kills and five blocks. Jordan Mineer had 13 kills with a hitting percentage of .385 on the night, while Clarice Buchanan led the team with 20 digs. 

The Eagles will continue to play on the road against Academy of the Art on Saturday, September 15th with an afternoon game at 3:00 PM.
