Walker Scores Twice In Setback Against UC Irvine

Despite showing improvement on the defensive end, the Concordia University Irvine men's water polo team succumbed to crosstown rival UC Irvine on Thursday evening, 14-4.

Nick Walker put the Eagles on the board in the second quarter after the visitors fell behind 6-0.  The junior from Naperville, IL would finish with two goals to lead CUI.

CUI's Messan Moore and Christian Bowley also added one goal apiece in the third quarter.

CUI was able to trim the deficit to 8-4 in the second half before the Anteaters regrouped.

UC Irvine responded with a couple goals to stretch the lead to 10-4 while the CUI offense hit the post a couple times and could not cash in for the rest of the match.

UC Irvine ultimately swam away with a 14-4 decision.

Goalie Alfredo De La Mora collected seven saves and three steals to help the cause for the Green and Gold.

Concordia returns to action on next Friday, September 28 at 1:30 p.m. when the Eagles welcome Fresno Pacific to the Woollett Aquatics Center.
