Concordia's
Connor Gordon finished up an unbelievable month of September with two more goals Saturday in a 4-2 non-conference loss to Azusa Pacific.
Â
The two-time men's soccer PacWest Conference Player of the Week notched both goals off of penalty kicks against the Cougars.Â
Â
Gordon's second tally gave him 41 career goals and moved him into a tie for second place on the school's all-time scoring list. He is now tied with MLS star Christian Ramirez who currently plays for LAFC.
Â
The first goal by the Concordia redshirt senior on Saturday knotted the match at 1-1 in the 34th minute. The two squads would remain deadlocked at intermission.
Â
Unfortunately, the host Cougars pounced in the second half and pulled away thanks to a late scoring spree.
Â
Gabriel Costa in particular was a thorn in Concordia's side all afternoon. Â Costa broke a 1-1 tie in the second half with a clutch goal and assisted on all three of the Cougars other three scores to lead the charge.
Â
Down 4-1, Gordon converted his second PK attempt in the 84th minute to cap the scoring. Â
Gordon and Costa ended the weekend tied atop the PacWest conference with nine goals apiece.
Â
Concordia continues its season-long six-game road trip this Thursday when the Eagles visit Point Loma at 1 p.m.
