LA MIRADA, Calif. - CUI men's soccer team battled to the very end but Biola edged out the victory giving the Green and Gold a loss heading into PacWest Conference play. The Biola University Eagles won 3-2.

To start the first half both teams came out ready to play. Aggressive play after aggressive play, both Eagle squads were determined to get on the board first. Unfortunately for Concordia, the Eagles of Biola University struck first. 

Fifteen minutes into the half, junior forward Jack MacDonald scored off of a strong throw in from teammate Hunter Finnegan right to the head of MacDonald who guided the ball into the net.

Less than 30 seconds later, the Green and Gold scoring leader Bryan Lopez, worked his magic down the left side of the field and slid past the defense on a precise pass from teammate Willy Ospina and powered a kick right past the defenders of Biola for the CUI goal to knot the game up 1-1.

In the 26th minute of the half, CUI received an unlucky bounce off of another long throw in from Biola's senior forward Finnegan that ricocheted off of the CUI defender for the second goal for BU.  The Concordia Eagles trailed at the half 2-1.

With second half comeback on their agenda the Green and Gold came out fighting with everything they had in them. Neither Eagles squad wanted to give an edge in the second half. But, BU outlasted Concordia and scored another goal in the 75th minute of the match giving Biola the 3-1 advantage with just 14 minutes remaining to play.

Trailing Biola 3-1, Concordia had little time to cut the deficit. The Green and Gold forward Caley Powers scored off of a corner kick from teammate Michael Oakson with just 13 seconds remaining in the game ending the match 3-2 in favor of Biola University.

To open up PacWest Conference play, Concordia men's soccer team will travel up to Fresno Pacific on Saturday, October 5th at 7:00 pm.
