Eagles Earn Split On Road, Fall To #13 Aggies

DAVIS, Calif. - No.13 UC Davis was too much to handle for Concordia University Irvine on Sunday as the men's water polo team fell to the Aggies 14-7. Despite the loss, the Eagles have still won five of their last seven contests.

The Eagles were coming off a big win Saturday night at Fresno Pacific, were looking to set the tone early and keep the momentum throughout the course of the game.

Former Newport Rib Company Eagle of the Week Patrik Zsiros put the Eagles ahead with a goal less than three minutes into the game.  The lead did not last long however, as the Aggies' George Kuesis scored two of his team-high three goals within the next three minutes.

Unfortunately for the Eagles they were playing catch up from there.

CUI got one back with a minute to go in the opening quarter, heading to the second down 3-2.

The Aggies scored early and often in the second quarter to take an 8-5 lead into the break.

The second half was more of the same as the Eagles were never able to build momentum to claw back into the game.

Messan Moore scored a team-high three goals while Marius Jakimcikas scored two. With the loss the Eagles fall to 2-2 in conference play and look to get back in the win column as they host the Air Force Academy on Saturday, Oct. 26.
