CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine men's water polo team split on the day to go 3-1 in the Gary Troyer Tournament over the weekend.  The Eagles went head to head with Occidental College and Navy in their two games today, beating Occidental 19-8 and losing to Navy 13-11.

Game One: The Eagles looked to build off of their momentum from yesterday, doing so scoring four goals in the first quarter while holding the Tigers to zero.  

Patrik Zsiros picked up right where he left off, scoring three goals in the first period.  The Eagles took hold of the lead and never looked back.  

Marius Jakimcikas added seven goals as the Eagles continued to put pressure on the Tigers for the entire 32 minutes.  

Austin Barton had himself a day as he scored four goals and racked up an assist and a steal.  

The Eagles were flying high and it showed as they looked to put away the Tigers early.  They took a 9-3 lead into half time, nearly doubling their lead by the time the final whistle blew.

Game Two: The Eagles, flying high off their three game winning streak, were ready to battle the Midshipmen in Saturday's matinee.  While the Midshipmen got off to a strong start, leading the Eagles 4-1 after the first quarter, and 7-2 at half, the Eagles mounted a comeback, scoring all seven goals of the fourth quarter.  Ultimately their efforts fell short but the fight was there until the final whistle.  

The Eagles got goals from eight different players.  The Midshipmen did a great job forcing the Eagles to pass the ball around before getting a good look. 

The Eagles are back in action October 12th as they travel to Santa Clara.  Game time will be at twelve noon.
