IRVINE, Calif.-
Jadenn Carrillo stepped up against tough competition and was rewarded with PacWest Freshman of the Week for the fourth time.
On Thursday, Nov. 7 Carrillo took charge and was a major reason the Green and Gold won in the
Battle of the Eagles. The intensity of that game was immense and Biola was the first to score with 15 minutes left in the game. Carrillo had no fear though and scored the goal to tie the game shortly after Biola had taken the lead. Carrillo was not satisfied though. A few minutes later she scored again to earn her fifth game-winning goal this season putting her tied for first in the PacWest Conference for that stat. Carrillo is also fourth in the PacWest Conference for scoring with 10 goals this season.
This is Carrillo's fourth time earning PacWest Freshman of the Week accolade. Carrillo also now holds the CUI record for most goals scored by a freshman in a season. She came in and made an impact for her team and for the PacWest Conference.
There are two more games in the regular season as the CUI women's soccer team looks to clinch a playoff spot.
"Although last game was a little bit of a set-back all my team and I can do now is finish strong," said Carrillo. "We can enjoy the moments we will have together and play the game we all love. We still have a chance to make playoffs as long as we don't lose focus. I'm extremely proud of every single one of my teammates and honestly the season was more than I could've asked for!"
Looking to bounce back from the PLNU game the Eagles fly back up north to face the Dominican Penguins on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 11:00 a.m. For the full schedule click
