LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Concordia University Irvine men's water polo lost a hard fought game to the #13 Lions of Loyola Marymount University 17-14.
The Eagles jumped out to the early lead, scoring 34 seconds into the first quarter on a goal from Marius Jakimcikas. He scored two more in the quarter to help give the Eagles a 4-2 lead heading into the second.
LMU matched the Eagles' intensity in the second quarter, scoring six goals to give them eight heading into the break.
The Eagles did not back down, scoring four of their own to even up the score at eight heading into the second half.
The Lions got rolling in the second half but that Eagles showed their grit and stayed in the game all the way to the end.
The Eagles had eight different goal scorers on the afternoon. Jakimcikas lead the way with four. Patrik Zsiros had three and Messan Moore had two. Austin Barton, Nick Walker, Christian Bowley, Mitchel Lunker, and Cristiano Tomassetti all finished with one.
