CUI Basketball Gears Up For 6th Man Game

The Concordia University Irvine men's basketball team is gearing up for the second annual "6th man game" this weekend when Hawai'i Hilo visits CU Arena on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m..

The "6th man" on the court symbolizes all of our CUI fans, family, friends, donors, neighbors and staff that support CUI athletics and all of our talented student-athletes and teams. It's a way for our university and our CUI athletics department as a whole to say thank you to all the passionate people from our past and our present who are also heavily invested in our bright future.

The Eagles have also excelled on their home court this season, going a perfect 7-0 against PacWest Conference opponents at home and 8-1 overall at CU Arena. Coach Ken Ammann's crew just clinched a berth in the upcoming PacWest Conference Tournament which will be hosted in early March by Dominican University in San Rafael, Calif.

The Eagles enter this week ranked No. 9 in the D2SIDA West Region standings and have won five of their last six contests. Along with the CUI women's basketball team, both squads will play four home games in a span of eight days starting with this Saturday's doubleheader against the Vulcans. CUI will also host doubleheaders on Monday, Feb. 18 against Hawai'i Pacific before Fresno Pacific and Chaminade come to town later next week. Senior Night will be on Saturday, Feb. 23 against the Silverswords.

This Saturday's doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m. as the CUI women's basketball team looks to finish off a series sweep over the visiting Vulcans before the 6th man game between the men at 7:30 p.m. Thank you for your support and Go Eagles!
