Concordia Falls at No. 9 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Concordia men's volleyball ended its first conference road trip on Saturday night with a match against No. 9 Stanford. The Eagles battled but the Cardinal took the match in three sets.

Jordan Hoppe had his sixth straight game of double-digit kills with a team-high 12. Luke Krzmarzick put down eight kills of his own to go along with two aces and Hunter Howell had four kills and hit .300.

Hoppe and Krzmarzick each delivered early, to put CUI up 6-5 in the first set. Trailing 14-10, Howell attacked on the second contact after an Addison Enriques dig to collect a kill. Back-to-back Stanford errors cut the lead to 21-15. The Cardinal benefited from an Eagles error and collected an ace to end the set at 25-17.

With Stanford up 9-5 in the second, Chandler Gibb tapped down an overpass and Howell secured an ace to trim the Cardinal lead. Krzmarzick scored consecutive points from the back line to tie the set at 14-14. Andrew Delmada made his presence known with two kills to bring the Eagles within one at 21-20. A late run for Stanford closed out the set 25-20 to put Concordia down 0-2.

Krzmarzick earned kills from both pins to bring the score to 10-9 Stanford in the third set. Hoppe put down a kill from Gibb to close the gap later in the set. Dalmada threw down a ball for a point but Stanford benefited from Concordia errors to finish the set 25-16.

Concordia falls to 5-10 overall and 1-2 in the MPSF and will face Stanford again on Mar. 30 in CU Arena. Before that, the Eagles welcome two ranked opponents, No. 4 UCLA (Feb. 20) and No. 5 Pepperdine (Feb. 22).
