Chambers Repeats As PacWest Defender of The Week

IRVINE, Calif. - Concordia University Irvine senior Brian Chambers capped off his last three home games averaging 22.0 points, 6.3 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals in a trio of PacWest wins.

His well-rounded performances and commitment to defense have helped him earn the title of PacWest Defender of the Week. Remarkably, this is the fourth time Chambers has been recognized for his suffocating defense this season.

Chambers leads the entire PacWest conference in steals after combining for 11 thefts during CUI's wins over Hawaii Pacific, Fresno Pacific and Chaminade.

The Long Beach, Calif. native also sank all 25 of his free throw attempts and has made his last 34 shots in a row at the charity stripe.

Chambers scored a team-high 29 points on Senior Night to help the Eagles beat Chaminade in overtime, which secured a first-round bye for CUI in the upcoming PacWest Conference Tournament.

Chambers and the Eagles also finished the regular season undefeated at home in conference play (11-0) for the first time since the 2010-2011 season and have won six straight.

The Eagles still have a chance to earn a share of the conference title this Saturday, March 2 when they visit first-place Point Loma at 4 p.m.  A win over the Sea Lions would also give Concordia the top seed at the conference tournament.
