Eagle of the Week #21 - 2018-19

Men's Basketball Ben Rosehart

Newport Rib Company Eagle of the Week - Brian Chambers

Our Newport Rib Company Eagle of the Week is Eagles guard Brian Chambers from the men's basketball team.

The Long Beach, Calif. native scored 23 points and dished out 10 assists in Concordia's 91-85 overtime win over first-place Point Loma in front of a packed house this past Saturday.

Chambers also collected five rebounds and scooped up five steals as the Eagles pestered the Sea Lions on defense.  Point Loma turned the ball over 23 times, which led to 30 CUI points.

When the Eagles aren't playing at home, his favorite road gym to play in is up in San Rafael, Calif. at the home of the Dominican Penguins.  Dominican also happens to be hosting this year's PacWest Conference Tournament in March.

Chambers enjoys rooting for the Oklahoma City Thunder and wears #0 just like Russell Westbrook, who is one of his favorite basketball players.

One of his favorite passages from the Bible is "Friends love at all times, but brothers are born at times of adversity." (Proverbs 17:17)

Chambers is a communication major and is very close with his mother and siblings.  "My mother shaped me as a man, and I can see why she did all of that," said Chambers. "I'm so appreciative of her. My work ethic came from my mother, my brother and my sister."

Chambers and his teammates return to action this week at Holy Names as they begin a three-game road trip.  The Eagles visit the Hawks Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. before visiting Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday, Feb. 9 . On deck is Biola on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. before the Eagles host Hawai'i Hilo on Saturday, Feb. 16 as part of the second annual "6th Man Game" at CU Arena.
