EL CAJON, Calif. – Going on the road for the first time all season can be tough, but the Concordia beach volleyball team faced through adversity and returned home with positive results.
 
The Eagles took on host Grossmount College for the second time this season seeing similar results as the first time both teams met. The Griffins have been voted No. 2 in the latest AVCA CCCAA Poll.
 
In the match, two of the five courts went to decisive third sets, with Isabella (Bella) Brown and Hailee Ryan coming out victorious by a score of 21-14, 11-21, 15-10 at the No. 3 pairs. Madelyn (Maddy) Clark and Kit McCarty was the other duo to go to three sets on court four.
 
Ending the day, Concordia battled Nebraska, taking down the Cornhuskers for the first time in program history. It was just the second victory over a Division I team in program history.
 
Nebraska struck first in the second dual of the day, winning at the 1's in straight sets. It was the Eagles who responded with three straight victories.
 
Clark and McCarty took down Hayley Densberger and Anezka Szabo 21-17, 21-11 to put Concordia on the board at the No. 4 pair. Ryan and Brown earned their second win of the day by a score of 21-17, 21-17 over Jazz Sweet and Kenzie Knuckles. Lastly, Asia O'Neil and Vanessa Bernzen who clinched the win for the team at No. 2 with a win over Mari Kurkova and Madi Kubik.

The Eagles will stay in Irvine playing at Irvine Valley College on Wednesday, Mar. 6, taking on Cypress College and another Division I opponent, Arizona.
