IRVINE, Calif. – For some people, there is no such thing as a sophomore slump.
After a stellar regular season, Concordia's
Michaela VanderKlugt was named to the All-PacWest Second Team. This is also the second time VanderKlugt has been recognized by the league's coaches as one of the best players in the entire conference.
VanderKlugt averaged a team-best 15.7 points per game and also led the Eagles in rebounding this year. The Antioch, Calif. native collected 9.6 rebounds per contest and shot 40 percent from the field during the regular season. She also made and attempted the most treys for her team, showcasing her versatility as both an inside and outside scoring threat.
The CUI women's basketball team finished the regular season 10-17 overall and 9-13 in conference play.
The Eagles earned the sixth seed in the 2019 PacWest Conference Tournament which will be hosted by Dominican University. CUI will face the third seeded Hawaii Pacific Sharks in a quarterfinal game on Thursday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. up in San Rafael, Calif.
