Strong Start Not Enough

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine men's water polo team was back in action Saturday in a non conference clash with the University of Redlands.  The Eagles fell to the Bulldogs by a final score of 12-9, however this was not due to lack of effort.

The Eagles outshot the Bulldogs over the course of 32 minutes 38-31.

Marius Jakimcikas had himself day as he tallied five goals on thirteen shots.

With the Eagles down one early, Jakimcikas the final three goals of the first period to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Bulldogs responded quickly, scoring the first three goals of the second quarter, en route to putting up a five spot in the second.  The Eagles, however, were not to be outdone as they scored three goals of their own to head into half deadlocked with the Bulldogs at six a piece.

The Bulldogs pulled away in the second half en route to their fifth win of the season.

The Eagles are back in action Thursday as they hit the road to play former PacWest foe, California Baptist at 6:00pm.
