LA JOLLA, Calif. - In the season opener against the Tritons of UC San Diego, the Eagles looked to find their chemistry with 11 new members on the roster. Unfortunately, the Eagles couldn't find a rhythm and UC San Diego took advantage.
Â
In the opening 10 minutes of the game the Tritons found the net off a free kick and that got them rolling until the last minute. UC San Diego would add four more goals opening up its season with a 5-0 victory over the Eagles.
Â
The Eagles defense fought hard until the final whistle and proved that toughness is not an issue. Redshirt senior Connor Murphy headed the defensive stops and made a few big plays, including a left-footed save just inches from the goal line.Â
Â
The Eagles fought hard throughout the game bringing some heat to the Tritons, taking nine shots in total with two on goal coming from junior Elijah Amadin. With the first game jitters out of the way, the Eagles will be eager to get back out on the pitch.
