Eagles Outlast the Toros in 15-6 Win

CARSON, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine Eagles racked up 13 hits and led for the majority of the game against Dominguez Hills with a commanding 15-6 win.

Cal State Fullerton transfer, Jimmy Endersby made his Eagle debut on the mound earning his first win but it was an all around team effort. All starters collected at least one hit and one run to contribute to the victory.

"After the loss yesterday it hurt the guys. When a team is invested day after day, moment after moment, pitch after pitch and care about each other losing hurts so I knew no matter what today they would buy into the process of what Eagles do," said head coach Joe Turgeon.

Senior Haloa Dudoit started things off for CUI in the top of the second with a double down the right field line taking a 3-0 lead.

The Toros answered in the bottom of the third tying the game with a three-run home run at four a-piece.

However, Bailey Collins smacked a three-run homer in the top of the fifth to bring home Jair Donovan and Cooper Moore, taking the lead back 7-4.

The Eagles momentum continued with Shoma Yoshida doubled down right field and scoring Shane Schick with Dudoit hitting a sacrifice fly to bring home Tony Garcia III and extending their lead 13-4.

WIth a throwing error by the Toros, the Eagles were able to have a man on first and third. Matt Lautz hit a double to bring home Dudoit and Shane Hersh. CUI was able to close out the bottom of the ninth with no runs.

"The offensive group like the entire team has put in a ton of quality work leading into this weekend and it has definitely shown the first two games. I'm proud of the entire offensive group," says Turgeon.

The Eagles return to action at 11 am in the rubber match between the two teams at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
