IRVINE, Calif. - Concordia University Irvine junior guard Darius Lee has been recognized as the PacWest Conference Defensive Player of the Week after two superb outings.

Lee helped his team earn two home victories over Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade by combining for four steals, three blocks and ten rebounds (nine defensive). As good as he and his teammates were defensively, his offense was also key in propelling CUI past the opposition.

Against the Sharks, Lee scored a team-high 17 points and corralled a season-best seven rebounds to pace the Eagles. CUI cruised to an 84-68 win to complete the sweep of the season series.

Then on Saturday against Chaminade, Lee drained the game-winning turnaround jumper with about ten seconds to play as CUI completed a huge comeback to net a 72-70 win. The Eagles trailed 65-55 with five minutes to go, but rallied by ending the contest on a crazy 17-5 run. Lee and his teammates forced multiple turnovers down the stretch and the Louisiana native helped redirect a last-ditch shot attempt by the Silverswords in the final seconds to protect the lead.

For the week, Lee showcased his all-around play by averaging 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks in the two victories.

CUI (19-7 overall, 13-4 PacWest) has now won four straight contests entering Monday's home game against the Dominican Penguins.

The Eagles are in the middle of a five-game homestand and close out the regular season with six of their final seven games in the friendly confines of CU Arena. After hosting Dominican on Monday night, the Eagles welcome Notre Dame de Namur to town on Thursday, Feb. 20 with a scheduled tip-off of 7:30 p.m. Academy of Art then visits Irvine on Saturday, Feb. 22 for an early start time at 5 p.m.
