Eagles Conquer Pair of DII Schools

IRVINE, Calif. – The historic season continues for the Concordia beach volleyball team as the Eagles secured a set of dual wins on Wednesday, to move to 10-1 on the season.

It was a clean sweep for Concordia to open the day with each team picking up straight set victories. The first flight of pairs took care of business, with Kya Bock and Cambria Fernandez holding it down at the five's, limiting their opponents to single digits in both sets. The three's and four's dealt damage as well, picking up wins to clinch the dual right away.

Heading into game two, the Eagles were tested, beating the Wildcats of Wayne State (Neb.) by a few points in each set. Nickie Hughes and Marina Pilkington entered the line-up at the five's and secure the first point for Concordia. Wayne State secured a point at the three's, to put the dual at 2-1 CUI.

The second flight was competitive at the two's with Avery Keathley and Hailee Ryan securing their second win of the day, both going into extra points. But to clinch the dual, it was the top pairing of Vanessa Bernzen and Ellie Cary who delivered with a straight set win.

In a few days, the Eagles will take their second road trip of the season to Bakersfield, Calif. for a pair of rematches with CSU Bakersfield and The Master's College on Saturday, Mar. 14.
