Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Concordia men's water polo team took on a doubleheader Friday after a night game Thursday against CBU. The Gary Troyer Tournament is hosted by Pomona-Pitzer and the games are played throughout LA County. The Eagles took on Ottawa Arizona and McKendree in the first day of the tournament where they would split on the day. 

Ottawa Arizona 14, CUI 10

Goalie Hunter Osgood played the whole 32 minutes while earing seven saves and three steals from the Spirit.

Andrew Dimino started things off for the Eagles with the first goal of the day in the first. In the second period, three shots in a row landed in the back of the net for Green and Gold with one of them being a penalty shot on the five-meter from Shaine Sargis.

Both utility players Jeff Runyan had five goals and Jacob Stuart right behind with three goals for the Eagles.

McKendree 11, CUI 15

Another notable game for Runyan as he had seven shots that saw the goal for the Eagles against McKendree. Stuart was able to get another three past the goalie to extend their leads with three other players scoring a goal. Callin Chimilar added another two goals and snagged four steals from the Bearcats.

Osgood played in front of the net for the Eagles and tallied seven saves yet again and one steal.

The Eagles defense in the third period came up strong as they were able to put down four goals and not allowing the Bearcats to see one goal which extended their lead 12-7 after the third.

McKendree retaliated with four goals in the fourth but Runyan threw out the last to goals for CUI that kept their lead until the end.

The Eagles will finish the Gary Troyer tournament Saturday, Oct. 2 in another double header fashion in one location. They will play Occidental College at 12 p.m. following Biola at 3:30 p.m. at the De Mandel Aquatics Center in Los Angeles, Calif. The following Friday, Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. will be the first conference game of the season for the Eagles versus UC Davis at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center.
