Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The dynamic duo of
Jasmine Rachal and
Michaela VanderKlugt carried the Eagles to their second straight victory in Saturday's clash at Cal State LA by a score of 63-56.
Rachal poured in 23 points to go with a team-high five assists. Meanwhile, VanderKlugt contributed 22 points and seven rebounds while also providing clutch shooting down the stretch.
After falling behind 22-15 by the end of the first period, the Eagles made their move in the second half. VanderKlugt scored 12 straight points for the Eagles in an important sequence midway through the third quarter to draw the Eagles even at 38. Then Rachal took over, cashing in ten straight points to put CUI in front, 48-44 entering the fourth.
Lauren Richter hit a huge three-pointer to put CUI up 51-49 a few possessions into the final period, and then VanderKlugt made two free throws to give the Eagles the lead for good when it was 55-54.
The Eagles shot 40 percent from the field as a team and 42 percent from downtown.

Sarah Rahon and
Savannah Felix-Amoroso also combined for 11 points.
Next up for the Green and Gold is their home opener on Friday, Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m. against Cal Poly Pomona.
