With Home Opener On Horizon, CUI Ranked No. 9 in Region

IRVINE, Calif. - Fresh off two solid victories to open their regular season, the Concordia University Irvine women's basketball team is gearing up for its home opener this Friday, Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m. against Cal Poly Pomona.

CUI has also moved into the No. 9 spot in the D2SIDA West Regional Poll.  The rankings are voted on by NCAA DII sports information directors and featured CUI as one of four PacWest Conference schools. Azusa Pacific, Point Loma and Hawaii Pacific join the Eagles in the region's Top 10.  Cal Poly Pomona is receiving votes.

Fans who attend Friday's home opener will get a chance to take advantage of a Double Stamp opportunity for "The Hunt" and see the undefeated Eagles try to take down the visiting Broncos. Cal Poly Pomona is receiving votes in the poll as well.

Concordia opened up its campaign with a thrilling, come-from-behind victory over Cal State Dominguez HillsJasmine Rachal sank the game-winning three-pointer in the final minute of regulation to beat the Toros on a neutral floor.

The Green and Gold then followed that up with a victory over the host Golden Eagles, as Rachal scored 23 points and Michaela VanderKlugt added 22 to power CUI to a 2-0 start.
