Wilson Records Career-High Aces Versus PLNU

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Concordia University, Irvine women's volleyball team was on a six game winning streak before entering the game this Thursday which was their longest win streak this season. The Eagles headed down the coast to play against Point Loma and were able to snap the streak taking CUI to four sets. The scores of the games were 23-25, 25-21, 16-25, and 22-25.
 
Cassidy Gelacio and Julia Wilson split the libero position tonight with five digs from Gelacio and Wilson scooping up 14. Wilson racked up a career-high of five aces from the back line and ties for second in the CUI record book with four other players. Setter Brianna Latigue dished out 35 assists while serving up two ace. Latigue added six digs and threw down three kills to catch the Sea Lions off guard.
 
Senior Patience O'Neal led the Green and Gold with 13 kills while hitting over .350. Kirra Schulz earned another double-double night with 12 kills and 11 digs. Daniela Poles added nine digs with Bi Le coming I to play defense and had three digs.
 
Jalyssa Sanchez currently leads the PacWest conference with an impressive .370 hitting percentage and tonight showed just why. The Whittier native finished the match with 12 kills and two blocks. Hannah Tostado and Mackenzie Jensen both played in the middle and tallied two kills each.
 
The Eagles will be back in action for Senior Day against Azusa Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. in the CU Arena where it will be the last home game for the Green and Gold this season.
