LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The Concordia men's volleyball team were back on the court tonight against UCLA. The Bruins were able to finish on top winning in three straight sets with scores 22-25, 18-25, and 16-25.
Raymond Barsemian led the Eagles with 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .333. Outside hitters
Erik Boisvert and
Jonathan Carlson combined for four kills and three digs. Barsemian had two solo blocks while Boisvert had one. Sophomore
Gil Herold had an impressive night up at the net going five-for-seven with a .714 hitting percentage with no errors.
Addison Enriques led the Eagles on defense with six digs with the rest of the team racking up 10 more. Setters
McLain Mott and
Brock Henderson dished out 16 and four assists.
In the first set, the Bruins were up by four, causing the Eagles to take a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the green and gold were able to get within one point of the Bruins. Two service errors would end the set, only losing by a few points. The second and third set were very similar with UCLA taking an early lead over CUI and never looked back to close out the set and match.
CUI had an effective hitting percentage in two of the sets hitting over .300 with minimal hitting errors. The Eagles out performed the Bruins up at the net defensively with six blocks compared to the three from the Bruins.
The Eagles continue the match-up against UCLA in the CU Arena on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and will conclude the series on Tues, Mar. 2 in Los Angeles, Calif. at 5 p.m.
