Eagles Salute Their Seniors

IRVINE, Calif. – Concordia women's soccer honors five seniors in todays' match up against PLNU.

The five seniors celebrated were Taylor Bandel, Kyleigh Burton, Reena Kang, Gillian Kliss, and Marianna Maldonado.
The Eagles competed against No. 10 PLNU but fell short with the final score 0-2. Point Loma started the game with assertiveness as they put up seven shots and scored both goals in the first half. The Eagles were able to change the momentum in the second half as they out shot the Sea Lions 10-2. The Eagles were able to get three shots on goal but unable to get any to meet the net.

Maldonado and Jadenn Carrillo both got three shots off with each having one on goal. Analisa Gjonovich got two shots off with one being on goal. Carmany Jones added two shots for the Eagles.
Concordia's defense held up a strong front in the second half as they only allowed PLNU to get off 2 shots. Goal keeper Hailey Asato earned four saves for the Eagles as she was making dives on the ground to try and prevent the Sea Lion's from scoring. Molly Melanson continued to be a leader on the field as she battled on the full length of the field today trying to keep the ball in the Eagle's offensive possession.

"These seniors are incredible," said head coach Chris Gould. "They are selfless leaders who give the best part of themselves to the team. proud of these young ladies."

The Eagles have one game left for the 2021 season and they head to Azusa Pacific on Mar. 17 to play under the lights at 6:30 p.m.
