CUI Women's and Men's Tennis Dominates CMU 5-0

IRVINE, Calif. – CUI Tennis swept the courts of CMU as the Eagles won every match!

The women kicked the day off with a win of 5-0 as everyone won their matches with ease. Ghazal Pakbaten and Rebekah Anderson won their doubles point at the No. 1 spot. Tiffany Carrillo and Camila Tumosa won in the doubles No. 2 spot. Holding down the fort in the No. 3 spot was Alyssa Zayat and Heather Richards as they won their match as well.
Pakbaten won her No. 1 singles match as Anderson clinched the No. 2 singles point. In spot No. 3 and No. 4 were Tumosa and Carrillo where they each won their match ups earning points toward the sweep!

The men utilized the energy from the women's match up earlier in the day and attacked hard from the start. Yassine Smiej and Mike Jansen won in their doubles match up at the No. 1 position. Patrick Wong and Jan Simon held it down at the No. 2 doubles positioning winning their match while Gertjan De Wilder and Benjamin Buck won in the No. 3 slot.

Once the doubles were over the Eagles held the momentum as Smiej and Wong won in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Simon and Jansen defeated their opponents in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots which helped to earn the Eagle win.

"When these guys are playing and I see them struggling I'll cheer them on," said Jansen. "And the other way around it's the same. The team is coming together. We are all having a good time here on the court, it's fun to play again. Great weather, great location and so I think we can do something special with this."

With the double Eagle win the women are excited to keep the momentum going as they face Cal Lutheran on Mar. 6 on CUI Campus. The men will play Hawaii Hilo on Mar. 8 as they will continue their stretch of home games.
