NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Concordia University Beach Volleyball team traveled up to Northridge, Calif. Saturday for a double header against Cal State Northridge and St. Katherine. The Eagles split on the day earning a sweep over St. Katherine and lost in a close battle with Cal State Northridge.

First on the Eagles slate were the Firebirds of USK. Concordia started out strong right out of the gates as pair four for CUI, Mia Corippo and Alexis Dirige, held USK to only four points in the second set. Hughes and Ostojic made a statement in their dual limiting the Firebirds to less than ten points in both of their sets. Overall, the Eagles held St. Katherine to less than 15 points in every set the played; except one. The Eagles beat the Firebirds definitively by the final score of 5-0.

Second for the Eagles were the Matadors of CSUN where the Eagles narrowly beat the Matadors in their first match-up of the season. Saturday was a close one as multiple sets were either won or lost by only three or less points. Notably in this game, pair two of CUI, Nickie Hughes and Sara Ostojic forced a third set with CSUN. Unfortunately, the Matadors were successful in their games with the Green and Gold as they narrowly defeated the Eagles by a final score of 3-2.
