SURPRISE, Ariz. – The No. 14 men's tennis season comes to an end with their debut in the NCAA West Regional Tournament.
The Eagles had to face a competitive No. 6 Hawai'i Hilo for the second time this season. The No. 1 doubles was won by a tiebreaker for the Vulcans and the No. 3 doubles was tied at 6-6 and resulted in unfinished. At the No. 2 singles position
Patrick Wong battled to put up a long fight which resulted in an unfinished.
Mike Jansen played in the No. 5 singles and he won his first set off a tie breaker with a score of 7-3. Jansen was the only Eagle to get a win in the match up against the fiery Vulcans.
The Green and Gold went 9-9 overall this season and were nationally ranked all year.
Yassine Smiej was named
First Team All-PacWest in both singles and doubles. Jansen, Smiej's doubles partner, was also named to the First Team All-PacWest for doubles. Wong was named to the Second Team All-PacWest for singles.
