IRVINE, Calif. – Friday marked the first home game for the Concordia University Irvine men's water polo team in 679 days.
The Eagles hosted Saddleback College in an exhibition and saw some impressive performances in the pool.
Australian native
Harry Nixon scored twice to lead the CUI offense.
Callin Chimilar and
Jacob Stuart both connected for a goal in the first period, while
Shaine Sargis and
Jeff Runyan each added a goal in the third.

Saddleback College was playing for the first time against Concordia since changing its mascot from the Gauchos to the Bobcats. Maybe the name change helped because their offense also came alive and ultimately Saddleback emerged with a 10-6 victory.
Since this game was not against a four-year institution, just like CUI's earlier contest against Riverside Community College, CUI remains 1-4 overall on the year against NCAA and NAIA competition.
Be sure to come to Woollett Aquatics Center for the next CUI home games on Wednesday, Sept. 22 (regular season match against Westcliff) and Friday, Sept. 24 (exhibition against Grossmont). Both those contests begin at 1:30 p.m.
