AZUSA, Calif. - The Concordia women's volleyball team played against Azusa Pacific tonight and earned a sweep over the Cougars with scores 25-23, 25-17, and 28-26.
Both middle blockers
Hannah Tostado and
Mackenzie Jensen had a notable night with six kills a-piece along with six blocks. Tostado added another two solo blocks to bring her total to eight on the night in just three sets. Jensen hit an impressive .600 with no errors.
Daniela Poles contributed with six block assists and six kills as well. Poles recorded 11 digs, making that her fourth double-digit night in digs alongside the libero.
Cassidy Gelacio led the Eagles with 15 digs and one ace.
Outside hitters
Kirra Schulz and
Kennedy Farley led the Green and Gold with 13 and 12 kills respectively and combined a total of 10 digs. Setter
Brianna Latigue dumped two kills and dished out 38 assists along with nine digs.
The third set was a thriller as the Cougars needed to win to force a fourth set with the Eagles. The score stayed close within a few points the whole set until a three point rally from APU tied the set at 21 all; in which a kill from Schulz would shut it down. The final point came from a kill from none other than the middle Jensen to take the three set victory.
The Eagles move to 7-3 (2-1 PacWest) and will take on Point Loma in the CU Arena on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 5 p.m.
