POMONA, Calif. - The CUI women's volleyball team finished the Broncos Fall Classic today with two games against Cal State Dominguez Hills and the host Cal Poly Pomona.
The Eagles won the first match against the Toros in a five set thriller with scores 25-16, 27-29, 26-28, 25-23, and 15-12. The host team rounded out the tournament with a win over CUI 13-25, 27-25, 13-25, and 13-25.
Brianna Latigue shined today with her performance on the court for both matches. The setter racked up 38 assists in the first match against Dominguez Hills. Latigue came up big offensively with 12 kills against CSUDH making that a career-high in kills for her as a setter. In the second match against the Broncos she dished out 24 assists and added 16 digs on the day along with two solo blocks.
Daniela Poles led the Eagles offensively with 16 kills and continued the ace train from yesterday with four aces against the Toros. Poles was able to put down the winning kill for the Eagles to take the match over CSUDH.
The Eagles will compete against Northwest Nazarene as their home opener on Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. as they host the SoCal Freeway Challenge that weekend.
