IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine men's basketball team defeated PacWest opponent Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday night, improving to 10-7 on the season and completing the six game sweep of all three Hawai'i schools for both the men's and women's basketball teams. With the win, CUI improves to 7-4 in conference play while moving into fifth place in the standings.

The performance of the night came from junior
Wayne Arnold, who scored an incredible 40 points against the Sharks. That is tied for the third-most points scored in a single game in Concordia history, while also ranking tenth in PacWest history. This is the first time Arnold has scored 40 points as an Eagle, and the 13th time he has scored 20+ points this season. In addition to total points scored, the South Central native made an impressive 14 field goals (tied for second most in CUI single-game history), as well as nine treys (third most in CUI single-game history).

The most impressive stretch of the night came with 7:45 left in the second half, when Arnold nailed four consecutive three-pointers within the span of one minute and 16 seconds. This burst launched Concordia to a 17-point lead and secured the win for the Eagles. Arnold would also finish the game with seven rebounds and two blocks.

Redshirt junior
Cameron Fini had his best game of the season on Saturday night, scoring 20 points with seven rebounds and one steal. His 20-point performance was highlighted by long-range jumpers, shooting 4-for-6 beyond the arc.

Freshman guard
Kobe Sanders once again orchestrated the offense, recording a season-high seven assists in the win. His first two assists of the game came after feeding the ball to his brother,
Jalen Sanders, who subsequently nailed a trey and a jumper inside the paint. Jalen finished with 10 points, his second double-digit performance of the season.

A cool moment came toward the end of the second half, when
Maximus Bo took the floor for the first time in his career. With the crowd roaring in support, he managed to fire off two three-point attempts in the final 30 seconds of the game, each deflecting off the rim.

The Green & Gold as a whole shot a staggering 60 percent from three-point range, the sixth-best single game team performance in school history. Their 17 threes also ranks second most in a single game.

Eagles return to action at Biola on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 PM. They will return home the following Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 PM against Fresno Pacific.
