IRVINE, Calif. – PacWest has named senior
Kirra Schulz as the Player of the Week after putting up staggering numbers while going 2-0 over the weekend.
Holy Names took CUI to four sets but Schulz shined throughout the match with 24 kills and 16 digs while hitting .344. The next match-up was against Dominican where the San Clemente, Calif. native added another double-double game with 11 kills and 14 digs. The outside hitter has produced 15 double-double matches where she hits double digits in both kills and digs.
Schulz sits at 304 kills with a hitting percentage of .238 and has added 326 digs and currently leads the Green and Gold in both categories for the 2022 season. In the PacWest conference, the senior ranks second in kills with an average of 3.58 kills per set and sixth in digs with 3.84 digs per set.
Schulz continues to impress as she has beat her personal bests at CUI this year with a career-high of 27 kills against Academy of Art and 28 digs against Saginaw Valley earlier in the season.
The Golden Eagles are 15-8 on the season and 12-4 in PacWest with four conference matches left in the season. CUI will be on the road against Point Loma Thursday, Nov. 3 in San Diego, Calif. and be back in the CU Arena the following day Friday, Nov. 4 against Fresno Pacific with both games slated to start at 7 p.m.
