Box Score POMONA, Calif. - CUI women's basketball defeated Cal Poly Pomona 65-47 on Saturday afternoon. With this win, the Golden Eagles finished the week going 2-0.
Sophomore
Teagan Thurman led all scorers on the day with 19 points going 7 for 17 from the floor. More importantly, she did not miss a free throw when she was on the charity stripe going a perfect 4-for-4 while also collecting 11 rebounds for the second straight game.
After putting up 22 points Thursday night against Cal Poly Humboldt, graduate student
Jasmine Rachal was the Golden Eagles second leading scorer on the day with 11 points. Her defensive effort was on point as well against the Broncos as she collected three steals and three defensive rebounds.
Once the first period ended, CUI was down by five. That was the last time they trailed in the game. The Golden Eagles would go on to win the next three periods. Redshirt sophomore
Erika Maggard is a big reason why the Green and Gold never looked back.
Maggard had a career-high eight points on the day going a solid 3-for-4 from the floor. She also grabbed six rebounds and swiped three steals.
Junior
Samantha Fries made her impact felt as well coming three points shy of a double-double. Fries led all players with 12 rebounds and added seven points.
CUI looks to keep this momentum going as they clash with Pepperdine in an exhibition game on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 6:00 p.m. in Malibu.
After that, CUI heads to Idaho to face Northwest Nazarene in their gym on Friday as the first of two games in two days following Thanksgiving.
