CUI Closes Out Season With A Win

The Golden Eagles Split Two Games In Day Two Of The WWPA Tournament

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - On Saturday, the Concordia University Irvine men's water polo team wrapped up their season in two consolation games at the Western Water Polo Association tournament.

In the first game, Concordia squared off against rival Biola University. Concordia's Connor McElwee, Jeff Runyan, Austin Wade and Harry Bentham provided the Golden Eagles with some stellar offense. Unfortunately, the other Eagles were able to keep their momentum from a strong second quarter for a 11-5 victory.

In the last matchup of the season, Concordia ended their season on a high note. The Golden Eagles faced off against Fresno Pacific and set the tone establishing a two goal lead after the first quarter. The next three frames saw Concordia keep their foot on the pedal thanks to goals from  Leo Erickson, Sam Diamond, Callin Chimilar, Jacob Stuart, Andrew Dimino, Shaine Sargis, and Runyan. This collective offensive outburst helped end CUI's 2022 campaign with a 10-7 win.

The Golden Eagles finish their season in the WWPA Quarterfinals. This squad has left their mark in Concordia's record books as Runyan and Wade became career leaders in goals and assists respectively.
