CUI Nets Seven Against Urban Knights

Carrillo Earns First Career Hat Trick in Conference Finale

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Golden Eagles wrapped up their PacWest Conference schedule with an away match in the bay on Saturday, taking on Academy of Art. The women's side currently ranks as No. 5 on the west regional rankings amongst fellow conference members Hawai'i Hilo and Point Loma, hoping to earn their first appearance in the postseason tournament. At 11-4-2, the Golden Eagles are in a great spot to finish within the top six places in the region.

Jadenn Carrillo started the scoring clinic early into the first half in the 12th minute with a cross-the-frame shot that found the far left post. That wasn't all she had in store; Carrillo notched her first career hat trick with additional goals in the 47th and 84th minutes.

Carrillo scored her tenth goal of the season, with five scored within the last two weeks. She now leads the team in goals scored and assists after her triple tally of goals.

Ten minutes after Carrillo gave the Golden Eagles the advantage, Olivia Ocampo scored to double the visitor's advantage off of a deflected corner, keeping the pressure on ARTU.

In the second half, Madison Hall, Mya Stice, and Daniela Filipovic added goals to the Golden Eagles' most significant win of the season. Stice and Hall both scored the first goals of their college careers.

The offensive power displayed by CUI was their best showing all season, with 30 total shots, seventeen of those posing a threat to the opponent's keeper. Riley Walkington and Carrillo combined for sixteen of the thirty shots, taking 8 apiece.

Walkington may not have been able to find the back of the net, but she still collected her fifth assist of the season and helped keep the momentum for the Golden Eagles.

Senior keeper Hailey Asato came into the game at the 29th minute and made three saves to secure the shutout for the green and gold.

Twenty different Golden Eagles saw the pitch today in the 7-0 win.

The 2022 DII selection show will air at 4 PM (Pacific Standard Time), November 7th, and the official bracket will be made available following the airing. The Golden Eagles will find out if their late season efforts have propelled them into the post season tournament for the first time in the program's Division II era.
