IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine beach volleyball team season opener was a success for the Eagles on Saturday as it came away with a pair of wins at the Great Park.

To start off the day, the Eagles had a clean sweep of the Firebirds limiting their opponents to 15 or less points in seven of the ten sets played. The fifth slot was the only challenging match-up in the morning for the Eagles but they were able to overcome USK (University of Saint Katherine) and win in two sets.

Delaney DeCinces and Eva Prewitt went the distance against the Mustangs, going to three sets and fought for that second set to take TMU to three sets. The Eagles were able to finish strong in the second with a score 24-22, forcing a third deciding set. The Mustangs were able to come out with the win in the third, marking that their only win over the Eagles.

The Eagles will be back on the sand Friday, Feb. 25 as they play against San Jose State and Utah in San Jose, Calif. at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
