Eagles Secure Season Sweep of Hawks

IRVINE, Calif. – Ten different Eagles scored at least one basket and Michaela VanderKlugt turned in one of the best all-around performances of her career to help Concordia complete a season sweep of Holy Names on Thursday by a count of 95-47.

VanderKlugt shot 10-for-10 from the floor and flirted with a quadruple-double before finishing with 21 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and a career-high six steals.  VanderKlugt became the first person in PacWest Conference history to make 10 field goals without a miss in a single game!

Meanwhile, Jasmine Rachal handed out a game-high eight assists and scored 16 points. Point guard Sierra Clark chipped in with six dimes as well.

Freshman guard Kendall Jackson scored a career-high 13 points and sank three triples while Camryn Kiernan added 10 points and a pair of threes.

Destiny Sambrano and Lauren Richter each added nine points apiece. Malia Smith was also one of six Eagles to drain at least one three-pointer.

The Eagles (17-8, 14-5 PacWest) have now won 12 of their last 15 games and remain in the chase for their first-ever appearance in the NCAA DII West Regional.  The Eagles entered the week ranked No. 8 in the regional rankings with the top eight teams making the postseason after the conference tournaments.

CUI has already clinched a spot in the PacWest Conference Championships for the fourth time under head coach Christine Collins-Kiernan. The Eagles currently are on pace to be a top 3 seed depending the outcomes of the games his coming weekend.
