NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine beach volleyball team continue to impress with their record extending to 12-2 on the season. CUI finished the day with another sweep beating Nebraska 4-1 and the host team Cal State Northridge by a close 3-2.
 
In the first clash of the day, the three matches that went to three set had the Green and Gold down by one set and all came back to win the next two in a row to secure the win for CUI. Bernzen and Phair in the first slot came back from the first set winning the next two and taking a win for the Eagles. Ryan and Ostijc finished in just two sets while the third slot secured the win with Cary and Bush. Cary and Bush lost the first set and retaliated by winning the next two and Smith and Evans came back to win in the fourth slot as well.
 
Next up was the host team CSUN challenged CUI but were able to overcome the Matadors by a close 3-2 score. Bernzen and Phair fought in the first slot but was not able to take the win as they lost by just two points in each set. The next two flights came up big that went to three sets and earned two wins for the Eagles. The two duos battled hard and continued to play their game and ultimately got the wins. Evans and Smith fell in the first set and won the second by a close 21-19. CSUN came back fighting in the third knowing they needed to win to stay in the game and tie the score. Clifton and Miller took the fifth flight and was able to secure the final win for the Eagles in two sets.

The Eagles will be in Malibu, Calif. as they look to rematch against Pepperdine and Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday, Mar. 19 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. CUI will take the courts at the Great Park on Tuesday, Mar. 22 against Life Pacific and Marymount with slated start times 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
