IRVINE, Calif. - In a hotly contested match between two schools that are barely ten minutes apart from each other, Concordia had UC Irvine on the ropes through four sets.
The Eagles won the second and fourth sets but the Anteaters ultimately escaped with a 25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 24-26, 15-10 win.
The Green and Gold were led by
Uriel Batista and Jon Carlson. They both placed 17 kills and hit over .350 individually. Carlson also totaled 29 receptions and a team-high 12 digs on the back row with a couple blocks while Batista added seven digs and three blocks.
McLain Mott handed out 31 assists to lead the Eagles.
Makai Lipson added 10 helpers as well.
Gil Herold and
Max McCullough made their presence felt at the net with five blocks and four blocks respectively.Â
Logan Glave added seven kills.
The Eagles host UC San Diego this coming Wednesday, March 9 at 6 p.m. Please note the earlier start time and that this game was moved up a day after originally being schedule for Thursday.
